Divisional forest officer (DFO) Abhilasha Singh stated, “We have installed trap cameras, but no footage of the big cat has been captured yet. We have been seeing sightings of leopards here for a while. We have also started the compensation process for the injured and asked the revenue department to clear bushes from residential areas and roadsides.”

According to Mussoorie DFO Vaibhav Singh, “The challenge is false reports of animal sightings. The leopard has been observed close to Bisht village, and we are advising people to exercise caution. Some old recordings have surfaced, but they are unrelated to current case.” The leopard is thought to be a female based on pugmarks, but its identity will only be confirmed after it is captured. Meanwhile, two forest department teams in Dehradun are searching for the leopard that killed a four-year-old boy in Singli village. They are prepared to tranquilize the animal.

A leopard entered Borim, alarming locals. The wildlife rescue team of the forest department intervened quickly and captured the leopard, which was exhibiting signs of weakness and hunger. The large feline will be monitored by the department for the next two days.
