AyodhyaPM Modi conducts ceremonies as the Ram Lalla statue is revealed at the great temple in Ayodhya.

In a social media post on X, the PM stated that the “Pradhanmantri Suryoday” aims to install solar rooftops on one crore dwellings. The PM further stated that this initiative will not only lower the power bills of the impoverished and middle class but also increase India’s energy independence.

Following his return from Ayodhya after the Ram temple’s consecration ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on January 22 that the first initiative he would begin would be to install solar rooftops in one crore residences.

In a social media post on X, formerly Twitter, Modi stated, “The first decision I have made after returning from Ayodhya is that our administration would begin ‘Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana’ with the objective of installing solar roofing on 1 crore dwellings.”

According to the prime minister, this would not just make India self-sufficient in energy but also reduce electricity prices for the poor and middle class.

He said, “The source of energy for all devotees globally is the light of Suryavanshi Lord Shri Ram.”

Modi stated that his decision to provide solar rooftop systems to the people of India was further reinforced on the auspicious occasion of consecration in Ayodhya.

According to a recent research by the international energy think tank Ember, if India meets its renewable energy ambitions, solar and wind energy will account for two-thirds of the country’s growth in power output by 2032.

Since 2017, when solar power made up just 1% of India’s total electricity mix, the country has come a long way. If India meets the targets set forth in the 14th National Electricity Plan (NEP14), its share of solar power will increase dramatically from 5% to 25% in the fiscal year 2022–2032, indicating a period of rapid expansion.

According to Ember’s research, this indicates that if India continues on its current path to meet its NEP14 targets, the country’s increase in power generation, which has been primarily driven by coal for the previous ten years, may switch to solar and wind sources in the following ten years.

Shortly after the Ambani family’s historic visit to the Ayodhya temple on the day of Ram Temple’s dedication, the contribution announcement was made.

The Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which is in charge of overseeing the construction and upkeep of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, has received a donation of Rs 2.51 crore from Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and his family.

The donation was announced soon after the Ambani family paid a visit to the temple on the historic occasion of the consecration of the Ram Temple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present throughout the ceremonial ceremony, which began at 12:20 p.m.

Along with his wife Neeta Ambani, son-in-law Anand Piramal, sons Akash and Anant, daughter-in-law Shloka Mehta, and soon-to-be daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant, Mukesh Ambani was in Ayodhya.

Mukesh Ambani announced, “Lord Ram is coming today,” before visiting the temple.

Son Akash, the chairman of Reliance Jio, continued, “We are pleased to be here and this day will be engraved in the pages of history.”

The RIL chairman has already donated to a number of temples; the most recent was a Rs 5 crore gift to the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee in October of last year.

He visited the Somnath temple in Gujarat in February 2023 with his son Akash, and they gave a donation of Rs 1.51 crore to the temple’s trust.

In September 2022, Ambani, then 66, donated an unprecedented Rs 1.5 crore—the largest sum ever contributed by a single devotee—to the Guruvayur Shri Krishna Temple in Kerala.
