PDA President Dhruv Ruparel clarified that although there have been many rumors going around on WhatsApp and in videos, the association has not received any official notification about a possible strike by transporter tanker drivers connected to major oil companies like IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL. According to Ruparel, the association is currently unaware of any official information regarding this matter.

With almost 900 dealers in the district, different logistic arrangements are needed for product transportation. Some dealers handle their own logistics, while others rely on transport tankers. Should the anticipated strike take place between January 1st and January 3rd, 2024, it could cause disruptions to the smooth supply of gasoline and diesel throughout the district.

Ruparel made a plea to the driver and transporter community, pleading with them to call off the strike, highlighting the dire ramifications that could arise for the public’s livelihoods as well as the supply chain for necessities.

In light of the current state of uncertainty, the PDA and its members are keeping a careful eye on the situation and hoping for rapid resolution and transparent communication in order to avoid any disruptions to the vital supply chain..

The Pune Petrol Dealers Association reports that all gas stations will stay operational.

Officially denying any plans to start a strike or close gas stations in the district, the Petrol Dealers Association of Pune (PDA) has dismissed a lot of conjecture.

In an official press release, Dhruv Ruparel, President of the Petrol Dealers Association Pune, urged citizens not to give in to fear that is stoked by unfounded rumors or misinformation. Ruparel categorically assured the public that there was no strike that the association was planning.

Ruparel reiterated the association’s commitment to guaranteeing a steady supply of gasoline and diesel across the area, emphasizing, “We earnestly request the general public not to be alarmed by any form of unfounded rumors or news.”

The news release highlighted the Oil Marketing Company’s (OMC) officials’ steadfast commitment to ensuring a continuous fuel supply. In spite of the incorrect information that has been going around, OMC officials are still working hard to meet the region’s fuel needs.

“All petrol pumps will remain operational. The supply of gasoline and fuel in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad will not be impacted by the ongoing statewide transporters’ strike. The district administration has ensured police protection for petroleum tankers at the Loni depot, facilitating the replenishment of petroleum products,” stated Ali Daruwala, Spokesperson for the All India Petrol Dealers Association (AIPDA), in an attempt to provide clarification.
