According to the air transport service Rosaviatsia, a Russian jet carrying six people is thought to have crashed in the mountainous northeastern region of Afghanistan on Sunday.
According to the federal agency, on Saturday night, the Falcon 10 “disappeared off the radar” and contact was lost.
“Preliminary reports indicate that there were six people on board the aircraft: two passengers and four crew members.”
During a medical journey from India to Uzbekistan and Russia, a private individual and Athletic Group owned a two-engine business jet manufactured by Dassault of France in 1978.
“The effort to find the aircraft is underway,” the agency continued.
Two Russians were among the passengers, one of whom was critically ill and the other her husband, who had paid for the journey, according to the news agency Ria Novosti.
The aircraft went down in Badakhshan province, which borders China, Tajikistan, and Pakistan, an Afghan provincial government official told AFP.
Head of the province information department, Zabihullah Amiri, said, “We have sent teams, but they have not arrived yet. The jet has crashed but the location is not known.”

The start of an investigation into the crash’s cause was announced by Russian investigators.
