The singer of “Lucky” made her stage debut at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park wearing a bright pink two-piece outfit. She also had darker hair and a more toned body. After she took the stage to host New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville Big Bash in Music City on Sunday evening (Dec. 31), fans declared Elle King unrecognizable.

Since Elle King had not been seen by fans since a televised appearance, some viewers were skeptical as to whether or not it was her.

One fan expressed confusion, saying, “I am like…wait!!!..what??? That does not look or sound like Elle King at all!!! She is lost a lot of weight, hair is different, her voice does not even sound the same to me…🤷‍♀️ Am I wrong or what???” Another fan said, “Elle King has lost weight and darkened her hair… I did not recognize her.”

While some admirers were perplexed by her stunning new appearance, others were in awe.

One X user commented, “Elle King looks [expletive] GOOD,” while another said, “Holy smokes, Elle King looks so friggen good I did not even recognize her with dark hair!!!”

Another admirer said, “It is amazing that I did not even recognize Elle King.”

Elle King used social media earlier this year to talk about her dramatic weight reduction journey, postpartum depression after giving birth to her son Lucky in the fall of 2021, and other related topics.

“Almost 2 years postpartum! I am making this post to share my journey from 284 lbs at 5’3 from pregnancy in 2021 to now 2023. It does not happen overnight. It did not even happen in a year for me,” King wrote on social media in August 2023, although she did not disclose the exact amount of weight she lost. Instead, she shared the factors that led to her lifestyle changes.

I fell into a very deep depression during my pregnancy, and I also did not realize how intense postpartum depression is and was until I very slowly began to crawl out,” she said at the time. “I changed my fucking habits because I was a creature of habit. I work out with @pauldominic_, who is basically a bodybuilder, and I add more workouts.”

In an effort to dispel any speculation sparked by her recent weight loss, she also stated that she has PCOS and is pre-diabetic. “I watched my diabetic grandfather prick his finger and give himself shots when I was 10 years old,” she said. It was also her intention to refute any rumors that may have surfaced.
